Volkswagen introduced the new Polo Sedan – only for South Africa so far

Volkswagen has a new Polo Sedan. A four-door with this name will be sold only in South Africa, while cars from India will be brought here. The fact is that under the name Polo Sedan, an almost unrefinished version of the VW Virtus, which appeared in India in March this year, will enter the local market.

The Polo Sedan will differ from the Virtus in a slightly redesigned front end, new headlight graphics and small interior decor. It is alleged that the renaming of the novelty is caused by Volkswagen’s desire to draw parallels between the four-door and the Polo hatchback, which is popular in South Africa.

At the same time, the sedan will receive its own engine range in South Africa. It will consist of only one unit – a 1.6-liter “aspirated” with 110 hp. in combination with a five-speed “mechanics” or a six-band “automatic”. The VW Polo (previously a sedan, after the update – a liftback) was equipped with a similar set for the Russian market.

The four-door is promised two trim levels Standard and Life. The first will include LED optics, air conditioning and a media system with a 7-inch display, the richer one will receive a 10-inch screen, a rear-view camera, climate control and wireless charging.

Volkswagen Polo Sedan only for South Africa

The Virtus sedan was originally created for the countries of South America, and in India it became part of an experiment to develop the new MQB-A0-IN platform – it shares this “cart” with Skoda Slavia. The engine range for these two models is also the same: 1.0 and 1.5 liter turbo engines with 115 and 150 hp. respectively.
